Next generation online travel booking system

Jetabroad is a global online travel agency selling highly competitive international airfares and travel insurance.

Late in 2006 Envoy was asked by Jetabroad to undertake the development of a new web application—with the purpose of allowing them to better manage the user experience, increase the rate of conversion from search to booking, and provide a platform for growth—both by volume and offering. We're pleased to say we've got ticks in all the boxes—and exceeded Jetabroad's expectations in the process.

Presenting a lot of seemingly technical information to users in an understandable way is something we already know about—so together with the travel-whizzes at Jetabroad, we developed an interface design that is rich in detailed travel booking information but presented in an easily readable and understandable format.

Mapping all that into the ASP.NET application took six months. We knew precious little about the travel business when we started working with Jetabroad, so we learned quickly. Jetabroad were delighted when we suggested a new feature, stopover bookings, which we could incorporate into the development with minimal project impact.

Underneath the very friendly and simple to use interface is a powerful application that provides search capability for single and multi-leg travel across the world from over 8,000 airports—the only website that allows bookings from regional airport to regional airport across continents.

The fully XHTML compliant application is built with ASP.NET AJAX technology. It employs SQL databases for data and logging; web service interfaces to fraud detectors, credit card processors and insurance quotations; a direct link to Google Analytics; and multi-currency processing.
