Systems Administrator/DevOps Engineer

Envoy is a software development and managed hosting provider, developing and operating high-value, business-critical web applications for our customers. We seek a systems administrator/ DevOps engineer to work in delivering our managed hosting services.

About us

• Our managed hosting service delivers enterprise-quality hosting to our select customer base. Our web applications collectively serve in excess of 1 million monthly visitors, with annual transaction value measured in the $100's of millions.
• We primarily develop for a Microsoft platform, with some BSD/Linux servers in supporting infrastructure roles.
• Our growing team of 20 people is based in our North Sydney office, with convenient public transport and a relaxed working environment.

The role

• Administration of our Windows Server hosting infrastructure (including IIS, SQL Server) to the VMWare level (physical infrastructure and datacentre are managed by our third-party suppliers)
• Administration of firewalls and networks
• Work closely with developers to design and deliver robust hosting for the software we create
• Pro-actively identify and implement improvements and expansions to our hosting platform and processes
• Develop and implement disaster recovery plans
• Maintenance of our office network

Essential skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Analytical approach to problem-solving
• Solid understanding of IP networking and web infrastructure
• Ability to document processes to ensure robust and reliable delivery of services
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies effectively
• Windows Server experience highly desirable

Preferred skills

• Experience in developing and documenting disaster recovery plans/business continuity plans
• Experience working with ITIL processes
• Experience in IIS administration
• Experience in SQL Server administration
• PowerShell scripting

Typical experience

• 3+ years in systems administration or a similar operations role
